Hey guys!
So I have been looking for a really great Sunless Tanner to use this summer. My skin is super sensitive to the sun and I get really big, dark sunspots on my face, so laying in the sun and getting a natural tan is not really an option for me. Not to mention that it really is bad for your skin! (No one wants wrinkles!) So I decided to try the Josie Maran Liquid Gold Argan Oil Sunless Tanner because I use a lot of her other products and love them!
I usually prepare my skin for sunless tanners for two days before I plan on applying it. I know that seems a bit excessive, but I have really dry skin so it takes some exfoliating and some super duper moisturizing to ensure I get an even application.
Next step is to shower, shave, and exfoliate and when you get out of the shower DO NOT PUT ANYTHING on your skin. No moisturizer, no products at ALL! Go straight for the self tanner. One thing I really liked about this product is that it gives you a bit of an instant bronze color which lets you see if you haven’t massaged it into you skin evenly. You can see exactly what you are doing. I do recommend applying this in a well lit room so you can see what you are doing. This product went on very well. It comes with a mitt and I loved using it. It helps everything go on so smoothly and evenly. I just put a little bit on the mitt and apply it section by section. I start with the bottom part of my leg, then the top part, and so on. Be sure to go back over all of your leg together to ensure an even application. I always pay extra attention to the front and back of my knee.
So for my face I used the face oil. It says to use 5-6 drops. I usually do this twice because my face never tans as well as the rest of my body. I apply it to my face using my hands. Be sure to wash them after.
The hardest part to self tanning is your hands/wrist and your feet/ankles. I unfortunately have no real advice on how to make it as natural looking as possible because one time I will have perfectly tanned hands and feet with no patches or streaks and the next time my feet and hands will look like I’ve been playing in mud. So I really think it will just be a trial and error process. Just try different things until you find something that works. And when you do..let me know! 🙂
So far I am really impressed with this product. My only issue is that I don’t feel like you get enough product for the amount that you are paying. Another thing is that it smells like self tanner..I know…it is self tanner…but I just don’t like the smell. Thats just something I have to get used to if I want to be tan! Also, I do enjoy the texture of your skin after it soaks in a little. Although it is an oil, it does soak in pretty quickly, but there is a little bit of stickiness for a while. That is why I cannot self tan right before bed. I usually apply it mid-day so it will be soaked in all the way before I go to bed.
Also, this product gives you instant color and it does wash off when you take your first shower after application. But you are still tanned after you get out. It doesn’t make a huge difference but some does come off. I’ve noticed if I have any uneven areas, it usually washes off when I bathe. It must be where the product settles when you have your arms and legs bent or something. I don’t know. This product also lasts a long time. I have used it twice now and I still had some tan after 8-9 days. It fades very naturally and does not get streaky or patchy.
Overall, I recommend this product.
Here are some photos of the results I got. Just a reminder: this product was formulated to be buildable. I am very fair so I only like a little kiss of color. My results were after only one application. If you want darker, just apply it more!

Thanks for reading guys. What self tanning products do you use? I would love to hear about them!
